CATA HALL OF FAME NOMINATION PROCESS

Criteria for Award:

  1. Activities, contributions and/or service which contribute to the enhancement of the profession of athletic training/sports medicine in the State of Colorado.
  2. Activities, research, contributions, and/or service which contributes to the CATA, RMATA, and NATA.
  3. Related professional work (athletic training education, seminars, professional development activities, etc.)
  4. Volunteer work in the profession (Special Olympics, Olympics, workshops, certification examinations, etc).
  5. Contributes to these activities as a certified athletic trainer over a minimum of 20 years.   Fifteen of these years must be active in the State of Colorado.

APPLICATION WINDOW:  Annually by November 1 – January 15

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Nomination Process

  • Letter of Application / Recommendation submitted by a member of the Colorado Athletic Trainers’ Association or other individual who is familiar with the applicant’s contributions to the profession
  • Current Resume or Vita

Criteria for Award

  1. A certified, active member of the NATA with at least 10 years of experience (5 years of CATA membership)
  2. Activities, research contributions, and/or service which contributes to the CATA, RMATA, and/or NATA
  3. Demonstrates excellence in the Athletic Training profession in the state and community
  4. Volunteer work in the profession (CATA, RMATA, and/or NATA)
  5. Can include volunteer work for other causes (community causes, church ministry outreach, civic organizations ) for more than 3 years

APPLICATION WINDOW:  Annually, November 1 – February 21

CATA SCHOLARSHIPS

The Colorado Athletic Trainers’ Association is proud to offer annual scholarships to high school and current college/university students.   Learn more about the Dan Libera Memorial High School Student Athletic Trainer Scholarship and the Jim Conboy Memorial Scholarship below.


DAN LIBERA MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ATHLETIC TRAINER dan liberaSCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship has been dedicated to Dan Libera, one of Colorado’s great Athletic Training educators. Dan Libera was well known throughout the nation for his enthusiasm and commitment to the profession of Athletic Training. Through his work at the University of Northern Colorado, he was able to pass on these traits to the students who had the privilege to work with him. We wish to continue this spirit by offering a scholarship to Colorado high school students who plan on attending an accredited athletic training curriculum program at any College or University.

SCHOLARSHIP VALUE:  $750.00

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Applicant must be in their senior year of high school.
  2. Cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (4.0 scale.)
  3. Applicant will be attending a College or University with an accredited athletic training curriculum program.
  4. Applicant must be pursuing Athletic Training as a profession.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  3. Three letters of recommendation:  Athletic Trainer/Direct Supervisor; Coach; Athletic Director/Administrator
  4. Essay on why you wish to pursue Athletic Training as a profession (maximum of 2 typed pages).

JIM CONBOY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP     jim conboy

This scholarship has been dedicated to Jim Conboy, the first athletic trainer in District 7 to be inducted into the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) Hall of Fame. Jim Conboy was the head athletic trainer for the United States Air Force Academy for 43 years. In 1976, he served as an assistant athletic trainer for the Pan-American Games in Minnesota and Winnipeg. In 1980, he was inducted into the NATA Hall of Fame. In 1990, Conboy was honored with the Pioneer award from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Trainers Association. In that January issue of the NATA news Jim was quoted saying “The greatest reward of the athletic training profession is the satisfaction obtained from being part of a team and doing your part to help young people utilize their god given talent to perform together.” Through his work, Jim displayed the qualities and standards that we all strive to achieve as certified athletic trainers. Our goal is to pass on this quality and commitment to the student athletic trainers.

SCHOLARSHIP VALUE: $750.00

  1. Cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (4.0 scale)
  2. Freshman to Senior status from an accredited curriculum athletic training program at any College of University.
  3. Must be pursuing Athletic Training as a profession.

  2. Official transcripts from all College/Universities attended.
  3. Two letters of recommendation (not including the supervising athletic trainer).

Jack Cramer Scholarship

This award is intended for high school students who have a career goal of working in the secondary school setting after becoming certified athletic trainers.
Please nominate deserving high school students.  Two of the three semi-finalists for 2012 were from District 7!
Nomination Deadline has been extended to December 31, 2013.
